Anchord, Yachts Do’s and Don’ts

Do’s

  1. Respect the Crew and Captain
Treat the captain and crew with courtesy and professionalism. They are trained to ensure your safety and comfort.
  2. Follow Safety Briefings
Pay close attention to safety instructions, including lifejacket locations, emergency procedures, and tender use.
  3. Remove Shoes if Requested
Many yachts have a no-shoes policy onboard. Bring soft-soled yacht-appropriate footwear if needed.
  4. Pack Soft-Sided Luggage
Use collapsible bags for easier stowage. Space is at a premium on yachts.
  5. Be Clear About Preferences
Communicate food, drink, and activity preferences with your broker or captain before and during the trip.
  6. Respect the Yacht
Treat all furnishings, equipment, and spaces with care as you would in a luxury hotel or someone’s private home.
  7. Dress Appropriately
Bring resort-style attire and dress in line with the charter’s tone and itinerary. Ask the crew if you're unsure.
  8. Be Punctual
Be on time for meals, excursions, or tenders. Delays can disrupt the itinerary.
  9. Relax and Enjoy
The yacht experience is about luxury, leisure, and fun. Embrace the lifestyle and unwind respectfully.

Don’ts

  1. Don’t Disrespect Boundaries
The crew have their own quarters and workspaces. Avoid entering restricted areas without permission.
  2. Don’t Assume All Rules Are Flexible
Yachts follow strict regulations, especially concerning safety and international laws. Follow the captain’s lead.
  3. Don’t Smoke Without Asking
Smoking is often prohibited inside and may be restricted to designated outdoor areas. Always ask first.
  4. Don’t Bring Prohibited Items
Illegal drugs, firearms, and certain items may be strictly banned and could lead to serious consequences.
  5. Don’t Overindulge
Excessive drinking or reckless behavior can endanger yourself and others, and may lead to being removed from the yacht.
  6. Don’t Invite Unapproved Guests
Always get the captain’s or charter manager’s consent before inviting additional guests onboard.
  7. Don’t Ignore Environmental Responsibility
Follow the crew’s guidance on waste disposal, marine conservation, and sustainable practices.
  8. Don’t Use Toilets Improperly
Only flush marine-safe items. Inappropriate waste can damage the yacht’s plumbing systems.

Failure to comply with any of the above may result in the charter being terminated early and is at the Captain’s full discretion.
